message to Eurovision, from a blockaded Gaza
12/05/19
“The people of Gaza want hope for the next generation” - that’s the message that Rami, a young Gazan, sent to the delegations of international Eurovision participants and the thousands of tourists who have come to Israel.
After 160 Zazim activists chipped in, we were able to cover Tel Aviv and Jaffa in hundreds of posters and bring the messages of Gazan youth directly to Eurovision and all the surrounding events.
This relationship and the postering action grew out of a powerful video-conversation between young leaders from Gaza and almost 200 Israelis that we hosted before the elections. We felt a duty to spread the shared hope that our conversation inspired in us, and to make sure that the Gazan youth’s messages would be delivered right to the center of the Eurovision extravaganza.
